Look! The Lamb of God…

Dear Church Family,

Maybe you know people who celebrate Passover and you’ve wondered what that is all about. It was actually a central idea in the Bible and a huge part of the worship rhythm of God’s people. The original feast helped God’s people remember how He delivered them from slavery and oppression. Year after year, they observed the Passover to remember that. But at the same time, they were learning about a much greater future deliverance. In other words, all their Passover lambs pointed to The Passover Lamb whose blood would save them for good.

The ties between the two are impossible to dismiss. Jesus was there all along! Our real Passover Lamb! Whose death freed us for good and forever! This, by the way, is the heart of the Bible’s message and what the Lutheran Reformation started in 1517 was all about. We are set free from the oppressive power of sin not by what we do, but on the basis of what Jesus did and the deliverance he brought about. Therefore it’s by grace alone, through faith in Jesus Christ alone that we have peace. So join me for worship at church this Sunday at 9:30 am as we get to celebrate this together and thank God for his saving grace that gives us peace!

DSYouth Friday – Students from DSYouth in 8th-12th grade will meet in the high school media center for a special session on Friday, October 28 from 7:00-8:15pm. We will spend the night thinking about ministry–serving God and his people, and reaching the lost. There will be a special focus on thinking about serving God as a pastor, a teacher, or a staff minister. We’ll have some visitors from Martin Luther College who will share more opportunities with us as we think about serving God and sharing the gospel with others in the future. If you are interested and have not yet attended DSYouth in the past, please fill out the parent consent form here and the student registration form here
