Camp South Sunday!

Dear Church Family,

Poor Thomas. Can you imagine your legacy as a disciple forever being described as “doubting?” But I’m also grateful for Thomas because I can relate to him—vacillating between the twin towers of confidence and uncertainty. But Jesus didn’t kick him to the curb. Instead, Jesus gave him evidence on which to rest his faith firmly. This is the same evidence on which our faith also rests firmly. How blessed we are to have God’s Word recorded for us who are so often like Thomas where Jesus says, “Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed” (John 20:29).

Join Pastor Caleb and all of us in your church family for an inspiring lesson from the life of Thomas. This Sunday we’ll also be celebrating the joy of what took place at Camp South. We’ll be singing some awesome, upbeat songs and welcoming some of the kids and their parents who attended Camp South and there experienced a week of worship, Bible study, and lots of fun!

Deliberating Calls: Pastor Ben has received two calls to consider being a pastor in other places: 1) To start a new mission church in Panama City Beach, FL. 2) To be the pastor of Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Minneapolis, MN. A divine call is not something a pastor seeks out but rather receives as an opportunity to prayerfully discern where one can best serve in God’s kingdom. As always, I invite your thoughts and prayers as I deliberate these two new divine calls along with the call I have to serve here as a pastor at Divine Savior Church-Doral. Thank you!

DSKids Sunday is almost here! On August 20th, DSKids Sunday, we welcome any new children entering DSKids and celebrate those moving on to the Acolyte position, with a special Bible presentation during the worship service, while encouraging those moving on to DSYouth! After the worship service, all families who participate in the DSKids ministry are invited to participate in one of three Home Builder sessions. Each session will help equip parents to gather around God’s Word in their home, where their family can grow closer together and closer to Jesus.

Youth Confirmation Class – Students entering 7th or 8th grade who would like to become confirmed members of our church family are invited to register for Youth Confirmation Class, taught by the pastors of Divine Savior Church. This class is for students who attend DSA or public schools and will be offered on Wednesday evenings from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm. All NEW students and their parents must attend the Youth Confirmation Orientation on Saturday, August 19th from 10:30 am to 12:00 pm. Please click here to RSVP for the orientation.

Harvest Strategy Summit 2023 – Have you ever wondered “How can I connect others with our church?” or, “How do we connect families to Jesus for life?” On Sunday, August 27th after worship, we are going to gather together as a church to talk about what each one of us can do to support our ministry plan to reach others with the gospel. Set this date on your calendar because we want everyone to be there. We’re excited to reach more of our community with the life-changing, life-saving love of Jesus and build our family in Christ!

What team are you on? – Make new friends and get personally involved in our mission by choosing a team where you can serve in our church family. If you’re not yet part of a team, we’d love to have you pick one and try it! We offer lots of options. Already serving and want to try something different?
