DSKids Sunday!

Dear Church Family,

Who was the least likely of the twelve to be picked as one of Jesus’ disciples? In hindsight, we might say… obviously Judas Iscariot. But to the people of Jesus’ day… they probably would’ve said… obviously Matthew, aka Levi. Why? Well, just imagine if Jesus had chosen a drug dealer or an infamous Ponzi-schemer today. Because that’s what Matthew was… the lowest of the low—a dirty, rotten tax collector.

But everything changed when Jesus said, “Follow me” and “Matthew got up and followed him” (Matthew 9:9). What’s even more remarkable is that many other people’s lives would be changed too because of Matthew’s ministry as a follower of Jesus Christ!

Changing lives with Jesus… that’s our church’s mission… and it certainly became Matthew’s mission too.

Join us this Sunday as we continue our Disciples series. We’ll also celebrate DSKids Sunday with a special Bible presentation, the kids ending our service with a special song of praise, and our home builder event after church.

Deliberating Calls: Pastor Ben has received two calls to consider being a pastor in other places: 1) To start a new mission church in Panama City Beach, FL. 2) To be the pastor of Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Minneapolis, MN. A divine call is not something a pastor seeks out but rather receives as an opportunity to prayerfully discern where one can best serve in God’s kingdom. As always, I invite your thoughts and prayers as I deliberate these two new divine calls along with the call I have to serve here as a pastor at Divine Savior Church-Doral. Thank you!

Youth Confirmation Class: Students entering 7th or 8th grade who would like to become confirmed members of our church family are invited to register for Youth Confirmation Class, taught by the pastors of Divine Savior Church. This class is for students who attend DSA or public schools and will be offered on Wednesday evenings from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm. All NEW students and their parents must attend the Youth Confirmation Orientation on Saturday, August 19th from 10:30 am to 12:00 pm. Please click here to RSVP for the orientation.

Harvest Strategy Summit 2023: Have you ever wondered “How can I connect others with our church?” or, “How do we connect families to Jesus for life?” On Sunday, August 27th after worship, we are going to gather together as a church to talk about what each one of us can do to support our ministry plan to reach others with the gospel. Set this date on your calendar because we want everyone to be there. We’re excited to reach more of our community with the life-changing, life-saving love of Jesus and build our family in Christ!

Grand Opening: Mark your calendars and save the date: Saturday, October 28. We want to celebrate the Grand Opening of our new Worship and Ministry Center with you! More details to come soon.
