Dear Church Family,
In a world that often urges us to showcase our achievements and assert our worth, we are reminded today of a different path—a path of humility and selflessness. This Sunday, as we gather to reflect on the profound message of Philippians 2:1-11, we also celebrate Mother’s Day, a day that beautifully exemplifies the virtues of humility and sacrificial love.
The Apostle Paul calls us to a life that mirrors the humility of Christ, who, though He was in the very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to His own advantage. Instead, He made Himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, and humbled Himself by becoming obedient to death—even death on a cross.
In the same way, motherhood is a high calling to a lowly life. Mothers often put the needs of their children and families above their own, embodying the selfless love that Christ demonstrated. They teach us that true greatness is found not in elevating ourselves, but in lowering ourselves to lift others up. What a blessing mothers are to us all!
So, let us strive to imitate Christ and the selfless love we see in mothers. Let us learn that a truly great life begins with making ourselves lowly, trusting that in doing so, we are following the path to true exaltation in Christ. Join us this Sunday at 9:30 am as we continue our journey into the book of Philippians with our series “Shine Like Stars.” We’ll also welcome our DSA High School Choir who will be singing two songs.

Pastor Ben Has a Call – On April 29 I was surprised to receive a Call to Hope Lutheran Church in Toronto, Canada. It’s a multicultural congregation in a big city with people from over 25 different countries. What does this mean? Sarah and I gladly welcome your perspective and prayers as we seek to understand and decide where we can best serve in God’s kingdom whether here or there. Please feel free to reach out with any thoughts you have.
Camp South: Every year, Divine Savior Church takes a group of youth to Camp South, a Bible Camp for youth entering 5th-8th grades. We will also take 9th graders who are in our DSC confirmation class. Kids get to study God’s Word, develop Christian friendships, and grow in their faith. Camp South takes place in Covington, Georgia from July 21-25th, 2025. Check out the 2024 Camp South video here to see what camp is like. Registration for Camp South is open, but space is limited! Find all the info and registration link on the Divine Savior Church app home page. We also need chaperones for Camp South. Summer Worship Schedule Due to summer travel schedules and limited staff/volunteer resources, we will be pausing the Saturday bilingual worship service. It will resume again in August. Worship services on Sunday morning will continue as normal in English at 9:30 am and Spanish at 11:30 am.
